Back from Tibet

I know it has been over a year since I have posted any good thoughts on this blog. I am ever so sorry if somehow any of you have missed good thoughts, but I am hopeful that some one else could give you good thoughts in my absence.

Last February I saw the movie "Seven Years in Tibet" and said to my self. Self! If you are ever really going to reach your spiritual peak then you are going to have to branch out and visit other countries. So I have been to India, Japan, China, and most recently Tibet. Unlike Mr. Brad Pitt I couldn't afford to spend seven years there. However, it was nice. I learned that there are some very spiritual people in the world and that some of them don't bath very often. However, that is there prerogative and I shouldn't complain since I was invading their culture.

I have returned just in time to attend this years Together 4 Each Other conference and I can't wait to tell you how it went. I sure do miss those group hugs.

Why Be Wrong, When We Can All Be Right

Occasionally I peruse other spiritual blogs, and I must say that some of these people take their spirituality quite seriously. Some even go so far as to make dogmatic claims on who is right and who is wrong and then they insinuate that one might not be headed down the correct spiritual path because they disagree with the others beliefs. I personally am very upset at this type of behavior. When I meditate in my spiritual place I meet all kinds of different people. Just last week while meditating in my bird sanctuary, I was approached by two Muslims and a Episcopalian who were on there own spiritual meditation journey. At first they just stared at each other in disillusioned disgust trying to figure out how they were each on the same spiritual plain. I, however, saw the confusion and stepped in.

Look over there at that mountain, I said. We have all been on the same plain forever, but don't usually cross paths, because we are using different routes to get there. However, I have traveled all over this mountain and discovered all sorts of people trying to make it to the top of the mountain. Take heart that when it is all said and done and we reach our enlightenment, that we will discover we were all correct.

Shortly after coming out of my meditative state, I read post about the bible. It thrilled me to see that someone had finally come far enough in his spiritual journey to see that it is all a conversation about how to get to our mountain. This may sound unusually bold for this blog, but I say why quarrel over where you consider someone to be wrong, and just realize that we are all right. Just love each other, because truly love makes the world go round.

Back from the Conference

I have recently returned from the Together 4 Each Other conference. I must say it was a tremendous time for togetherness. I believe my favorite seminar was “Holding Hands for Peace” In the 2 hour seminar we all 287 of us held hands and shared how this hand holding effects us. My friend Jim was new to this idea and was understandably nervous at first. However, it didn’t take long for him to warm up to the idea and he surprised me at his openness about how holding hands had effected him. Jim has always been a little skeptical. Not to offend anyone, but I think it may have been because he grew up a Southern Baptist.

The conference concluded Friday night with a wonderful speech from Rodney King. It is so sad what that man went through when all he wanted was for us all to get along. Rodney was still so upset he could barely contain himself. There were several times I thought he might not finish. He was obviously overwhelmed with emotion. Rodney our meditations go out to you. May the spirituality you pray in bring you peace.

We finished the night by lighting candles, walking around our meditation labyrinth, sharing our contemplative chants, and having a good group hug. As I write this post I am a little saddened that I am not having a group hug now. I think I will go hug my cats.

Together for Each Other

I am currently packing to attend the Together 4 Each Other conference. It is being sponsored by my current religious center Visionary Atrium for Gathering in Unity of Ecumenicalism, but we just call it VAGUE for short. We are gathering to celebrate togetherness which I think is really the only reason to get together. Togetherness is good, and I am sure that when I return I will be filled with many good thoughts from being together with people who want to be together. The vision of this conference is to try and see if we can get people together under the common bond of being together. I will update you on how things go, as the conference continues. In the meantime you should get together with someone too.

Slight Change

It has come to my attention that some of the photos that have been posted here have upset a few people. Apparently pink is not everyones favorite color; of this I was not aware until recently. So until further notice we will not post pictures on Good Thoughts. We only want good thoughts at this blog and visual images may upset some people.

Something for Everyone

At Good Thoughts we strive to have something here anyone could enjoy. So today I have a quote.
"Treat others like you would want to be treated". I like that quote. I can't remember where it came from, but whoever said it must have been really smart.
